This piece started when I was visiting family friends and one of their children made a flower out of the dough they were using to cook and after cooking she gave it to me. I was so impressed with how she made something so beautiful yet simple out of what is an unconventional material. At the moment I could not eat it and bring that moment of creativity to an end. I kept the flower and eventually made a sculpture with it using scrap metal and wood. This is what art is to me, the moment when something is created and is no longer a conventional item.
